In this short exercise you will register a free mindmeister account and then create your first mindmap. In this task you will not only experience mindmapping with the Tablet, but also perform a useful task by brainstorming and planning possible goals and activities concerning Tablets in your school or organisation.
Go to the Home screen and open the mindmeister App by tapping on the App icon.
On the first screen tap on the blue sign up button to create a free mindmeister account. This account allows you to create up to 5 Mindmaps.
Now you can fill up this short sign up form using an existing e-mail address of your choice. Tap on the sign up button to finalize the process.
Now you can start with your mindmap and put the topic in the centre of your mindmap. This topic will also be the name of your mindmap.
Hint:
Sometimes you have to double tap on a topic to change the text.
Now you can add the main topics of your little “Tablet2school action plan” like you see it on the screenshot.
Now you can really start your structured brainstorming by adding subbranches to your main topics. Leading questions can be the following:
Now you can start to layout your map and make it more appealing using different colours or by adding icons. To do that tap on the brush icon on the menu bar.
If you want to change the background colour of a topic just select the topic and then tap and hold on the colour that you want use.
If you want to add meaningful symbols you can tap on the “smiley-button” to change to the symbol-gallery. Then tap on the symbol you like to add it to an idea.
You can also change the theme of your mindmap. To do so tap on the brush-button wthin the layout panel and select a theme of your choice.
Finally you can share your mindmap by taping on the info button in the top right corner. You then have different options like sharing via e-mail, printing or exporting your map into other formats like a PDF or a graphic (e.g. png).

You can even export your mindmaps to Microsoft Word or Powerpoint and create stunning documents or presentations.
